John Steven Leech Sr., age 78, passed away on May 13, 2021 in Athens, TX.
He was born in Baraboo, WI on July 9, 1942 to Clarence Leech and Agnus Vorpagel Leech.
John was know to be a perfectionist. His passion was cars, working on trucks, carpentry, and crunching numbers. When he did something you knew it was done correctly. He worked as an insurance adjuster, salesman, and a master electrician for 30 plus years. He was involved in many organizations. He volunteered at the Elk Lodge in Mabank, he was a member of Shriners, and a Scout Troop Leader.
He served in the U.S. Navy from May 1962 - May 1964. He was an E2 Helmsman on the USS Wren DD 568 and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy Reserves.
He was preceded in death by father, Clarence Leech, mother Agnus Vorpagel Leech, brothers Roger Clarence Leech, Kent Allen Leech, Terry Warren Leech, daughter Kayla Leech, grandson Eli Leech.
He is survived by his wife Serena Gay Leech; son John Steven Leech Jr.; daughter Carla Collins; son Phillip Edward Leech; son Curtis Wayne Leech; son Kevin Dakota Leech; brother Daniel Wayne Leech; sister Paula Jean Stradley; sister Robbie Jo Porter-Bell. His legacy continues to live on in a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for John will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Malakoff Cemetery.
