William "Bill" Green

William "Bill" Green of Malakoff, Tx entered his heavenly home Monday, January 29. Bill was born on July 28, 1928, to Guy Green and Jewell Poole Green in Chandler, Tx. He graduated from Chandler High School in 1945. Bill earned his Bachelor of Science Degree and Master's Degree in Education from East Texas State University at Commerce.

Bill married his soul mate, Inez Tanner, on May 22, 1949. After serving in the Air Force, Bill and Inez settled in Malakoff, Tx. He worked for Citizens State Bank and Tanner Motor Company before entering the teaching profession. Bill taught his entire career at Malakoff ISD. He taught fifth grade and drivers ed while also driving many school bus routes.

Bill faithfully attended First Baptist Church Malakoff. He served as a deacon, treasurer, as a children's Sunday School teacher, and in many other areas as well. Bill was also a member of the Lions Club in Malakoff and served as the second vice president of the Henderson County Retired School Personnel Association. He was awarded the lifetime membership award at HCRSPA for his many years of service. Bill and Inez also worked together with the Friends of the Library to help support programming at the Malakoff Public Library. These are just a few of the many ways Bill was active in the community.

Bill is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Inez Green; his parents, Guy and Jewell Green; his sister, Francine Harris; and his nephew Fred Chapman, father and mother-in-law E.A. & Minnie Tanner, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Richard & Evelyn Tanner, Jack & Ida Tanner, E.A. Jr. & Wanda Tanner, C.W. & Opal Tanner, Carl & Wanda Tanner, Corinne Tanner, Velma & Herbert Johnson and Don Petty.

Bill is survived by daughter Paula Allinen and husband Rickey of Corsicana; daughter Tina Quattlebaum and husband Malcolm of Athens; granddaughter Crystal Allinen of Corsicana; grandson Randy Quattlebaum and wife Melinda of Claremore, OK; great-grandchildren Kaleb, Kaden, Keaton, and Krosby Lyles and Emma, Jenna, and Luke Quattlebaum; sister-in-law Loretta Petty of Ft. Worth, cousins Joe Max Green of Nacogdoches, Sherry Werneking of Athens, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family visitation will be held 6 - 8 P.M. Friday, February 2, 2024, at First Baptist Church Malakoff.

The service will be on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 2:30 P.M at First Baptist Church Malakoff. Officiants of the service will be Bro. Casey Perry and Bro. Larry Blackmon.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Tanner, John Tanner, Joel Tanner, Mahlon Tate, Donnie Garrett, and Graham Bullard.

Great-grandsons Kaleb, Kaden, Keaton, Krosby, and Luke will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Interment will be in the Malakoff Cemetery.
