Valree Rhoden

Valree Rhoden, age 84 of Athens, Texas passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023 at her home with her 3 girls surrounding her as she passed into Jesus's arms. A celebration of life will be held in Ong, Nebraska at a later date, yet to be determined.

Valree Belle Rhoden, was born in Kilgore, Nebraska on October 6, 1939, to Edward W. and Beulah I Ritterbush, the oldest of 6 children. She loved the sandhills of Nebraska and loved her childhood there with her brothers, and often talked fondly of their life there.

She married at a young age and to that union 3 girls were born. Cindy, Kathy, and Alena.

She later married the love of her life, Robert Rhoden of Athens, Texas. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage until his passing in November 2020.

Val loved making things from crocheted doilies, embroidered dish towels, leather work, and numerous other craft items, all cherished items to her family.

Val was a competitive card player as well as many other games. She loved playing games with her family. In her later years she enjoyed putting puzzles together with family and friends.

Valree is survived by her 3 loving daughters, Cindy (Steve) Barney, of Bloomfield, Nebraska, Kathy (John) Cattles of Gillette, Wyoming, and Alena (Dan) Eaton of Athens, Texas . 8 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren, with 2 on the way. Brothers, Larry (Janice) Ritterbush, and Dale Ritterbush of Ong, Nebraska, and a sister Jane (Mark) Schroer of Minnesota. Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Bob Rhoden, infant son Michael Rhoden, her parents Edward and Beulah Ritterbush, sister Irene Ritterbush and brother Edward Jr (Bill) Ritterbush, Granddaughter-in-Law, Carrie Barney, Nephew, Larry Ritterbush Jr, and Niece Sandy Ritterbush.
