Rose Gandy was born May 1,1935 to Clarence and Lora Cook of Eustace, Texas, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 9, 2025 at the age of 90 years. She was raised by her paternal grandparents, James Benjamin and Hattie Cook, after her mother died when she was two years old. They lived in the Eustace and Athens area until meeting the love of her life at the age of fifteen. She was soon married to Clifton Gandy on May 27, 1950, with whom she celebrated 67 anniversaries until he passed in 2017.
Rose dedicated her life to her husband and three children while working in various occupations over the years. She retired from the grocery industry in 1997 after almost 30 years of faithful service. She and Clifton were faithful servants of Jesus Christ and devoted leaders at Spence Park Baptist Church from the time they joined there in 1972 until they went to be with Jesus. Rose loved her church family with all her heart.
Having many interests, she especially loved spending many hours with family and friends traveling, camping, and playing cards and board games, and just visiting and fellowshipping with everyone. True to her maiden name she was a great cook. She took tremendous satisfaction watching others enjoying the work and creativity that she brought to the table. Her banana pudding was relished by all and in great demand at every holiday and fellowship at church and home.
Her greatest love, however, was her legacy of a large family. 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren brought a lifetime of joy and love to her and all who knew her.
Rose was preceded in death by Clifton Clark Gandy Sr., her husband of 67 years; her son, Clifton Clark Gandy Jr.; two grandchildren, Kristi and Jennifer Williams; and a son-in-law, Greg Sisler.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Susan Gandy; a son, Charles Gandy and wife Janice; and a daughter, Diane Gandy-Sisler; and grandchildren Jason Gandy,
Kimberly Mathis and husband Bubba, Alicia Benavides, Gina Tallman and husband Jeff, Brent Gandy and wife Monica, Brian Gandy and wife Charissa. As well as those 16 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. Also left grieving are the many members of her church family and friends who loved her.
A celebration of Rose's life will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Huckabee Memorial Chapel, Seven Points, TX with Bro. Charles Gandy officiating. Interment will follow in Payne Springs Cemetery.
