Mattie Lou Broyles, born in Floyd, TX on March 2, 1924 to John A and Clara Opal Johnson. Mattie passed away peacefully with her family around her on July 8, 2014 at Charlton Methodist Hospice in Dallas, TX. She lived in Dallas until September, 1969 where she and Cecil retired to the Star Harbor Community at Cedar Creek Lake, TX. Mattie and Cecil resided until his death and were married 65 years. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Malakoff. She was involved in many church activities, a Charter member and secretary of the Ex Libris book club, Star Harbor and Literary Club of Athens. She married Cecil S. Broyles Oct. 6, 1939 and is preceded in death by Cecil, daughter Linda Williams and grandson, Rickie Williams. She is survived by her son, Richard Broyles and wife Vera, grandsons Larry and Gary Williams and 9 great grandchildren. Two sisters, Pat Goad of Desoto, TX and Helen and husband Wally Davis of Denton, TX. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at First Baptist Church Malakoff, TX Service will follow at 12:30 PM at First Baptist Church Malakoff, TX Interment will be held at Malakoff Cemetery Clergy: Bro: Case Perry Services under the direction of Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral Homes
