Mary Lou Bunn Hines, 87, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in Athens, TX. Funeral services will be held at the Trinidad United Methodist Church on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 10 am with the Rev. Robert Langley, a family friend, officiating. Burial will follow at the Trinidad City Cemetery. Mary was born in Waco, TX on February 25, 1927, to Buster and Willie Osborne Bunn. She lived an idyllic childhood in Trinidad, TX where she graduated high school in 1944. She then went to the University of North Texas in Denton, before marrying Hollis Blaine Hines Jr. on August 16, 1946. They moved to Dallas where Hollis attended and graduated from SMU. They lived in several states during his career including Texas, North Dakota, Tennessee, Alabama, and Louisiana. They also lived in Saudi Arabia. She was a lifelong Methodist, attending church and teaching Sunday school. She loved to bowl and play bridge with her friends. She and Hollis loved to travel and visited most of the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia. Her greatest joy was being a loving mother and grandmother. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law Pearle and Hollis Hines Sr., brother, John Wesley Bunn and brother-in-law, Ballow Hines. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Hollis Hines, their six children: Mona and Bobby Craig of Athens, TX; Suzy and Mike Kellogg of Jacksonville, TX; Buster and Nancy Hines of Alamo, CA; Mark and Sue Hines of Portland, OR; Steven and Lisa Hines of McKinney, TX; and Lori and Waide Echols of Slidell, LA; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Michael and Kerry Craig of Athens, TX; Ashley and Jason Bradford, Jacey, Cooper, Cavan of Alice,TX; Heather and Bryan Stewart, Haylee and Makenzee of Jacksonville, TX; Chelsea and Jason Nardozza, Laney and Liliana of Whitehouse, TX; Kevin and Diana Hines, Sophia and Lily of Midland, TX; Casey Hines of Sacramento, CA; Kristen Hines of Houston, TX; Taylor Hines of New York City; Dillon Hines of Eugene, OR; Meredith and Aaron Fuentes of Baytown, TX; Mallory Echols, Shiloh Boman of Baytown, TX; John Duncan of Portland, OR; Lyndi and Russell Wittekiend, and Avery of San Marcus, TX; Jenni Gabbert of Minot, ND; Halei Gabbert, Kelsi Gabbert, and Caiden of Athens, TX; Sister-in-law Margaret Hines Chamberlain of Garland, TX; Nieces, Margo Udelhoven of Canton, TX; and Marci Nicklesburg of Woodland Park, CO. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Craig, Kevin Hines, Jason Bradford, Aaron Fuentes, Bryan Stewart and Jason Nardozza.
Her Son-in-law, Mike Kellogg, per her request, will be playing "In the Garden" on the saxophone and a family friend, Wendy Jenkins will be singing the "Old Rugged Cross". The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Scottish Rites of Dallas, TX or to the United Methodist Church of Trinidad, TX.
