Lonnie William Ross

On December 29, 2023, Lonnie William Ross passed away in the comfort of his home at the age of 68. He was born October 8, 1955 to Thomas M. Ross and Florean Patterson Ross in Grapevine, Texas.
Lonnie married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Sherrie Mayes on July 5, 1974. Over the course of almost 50 years together, Lonnie and Sherrie raised a family of three beautiful girls, Autumn, Felisha, and Krystal. Lonnie was a true family man, he shared his love of the outdoors with his girls, teaching them to hunt wildlife and fish. He would often take Sherrie, the girls, and their friends on camping trips all over the South. For 17 years Lonnie was an active member of the Payne Springs Fire Department. He started out as just a fireman, and eventually became lieutenant before working his way up to Assistant Chief.
In his retirement Lonnie could be found fishing and hunting with his grandchildren or working on his side hustle of scrapping metal.
Lonnie is survived by his loving wife Sherrie Ross of 49 years.
He is also survived by his children, Autumn Mitchell and Jay Woolverton, Felisha Gilliam, Krystal Ross and Michael Huckabee; Grandchildren, Christina Nardozza, Addison Snell, MaCayla Woolverton, Tyler Markwood, Billy Gilliam, Makenzie Kennedy, Mason Kennedy, Brailyn Huckabee, and Lane Huckabee; Brothers, Bobby Ross Sr., Turk Ross, and Tom Campbell; Sisters, Charlotte Cline, and Connie Watson; Nephews, Bobby Ross II, Nathan Ross, Jerry Campbell, and John Campbell; Nieces, Ashley Fox, Joanne Warren, Melissa Campbell Chavier, and Nikki Reiniche; Step father, George Pierce and Eleven and 1/2 Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Loveta Ross and Florean Patterson
Visitation will be held at Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff, Texas, on January 1, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm.
Funeral Services will be held at the Payne Springs Fire Department in Payne Springs, Texas on January 2, 2024 at 11am with interment to follow at the Payne Springs Cemetery.
