Lindley Davis

November 24, 1935 — August 4, 2023

Lindley Ronald Davis, aged 87, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully passed away on August 4, 2023, in Star Harbor, TX.

Lindley was born on November 24, 1935, in Childress, TX, to Ronald Alvin Davis and Cozette Ilene Lindley (Davis).

He met the love of his life, Wannie Muriel Miller, while attending West Texas State University, where he excelled in football. Their union was sealed in marriage on June 1, 1957, in Plainview, Texas. Following his graduation, he faithfully served our country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army National Guard. Lindley dedicated his career to educating students as a Health Teacher and Coach.

Beyond his professional life, Lindley and Muriel's marriage was blessed with three beautiful children. In his leisure moments, he found joy in watching old western movies, playing Texas Hold 'em, engaging in farming, fishing, and spending quality time with his beloved family. Lindley had a deep affection for the water, often taking his family on memorable trips to the beach at Port Aransas. His grandchildren adored the times when Grandpa would load them up for a boat ride or fishing trip on the lake.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Alvin Davis and Cozette Davis, his brother Cagle Davis and his wife MaryAnne Davis, as well as his son-in-law Kevin Moore.

Lindley is survived by his devoted wife, Muriel; his two sons, Bruce Davis and his wife Roxanne Lucero of New Mexico, and Ronny Davis and his wife Shannon of Justin, TX; his daughter, Deidre Moore of Athens, TX; along with his six treasured grandchildren: Cozette Kosary of Carrollton, TX; Nicole Neis and her husband John of Austin, TX; Allison Cooper and her husband Brandon of Roswell, New Mexico; Ryan Wiley and his fiancée Meg Sharma of Chesapeake, VA; Madison Davis and Mackenzie Davis of Justin, TX. Lindley's legacy will endure through his great-grandchildren: Michael Neis, Matthew Neis, and Casey Cooper.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will be held at 9:00 AM on Friday, August 18, 2023, followed by a memorial service at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Malakoff, located at 220 W Mitcham St, Malakoff, TX 75148. Interment will take place at Athens Cemetery.

We gather to celebrate Lindley's remarkable life and the profound impact he had on all those fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will forever inspire and guide us.
