Larry Douglas

Larry James Douglas, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at his home in Singer, LA.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 2nd, at 1:00 p.m. at Mankin Cemetery, Forehand Road, Trinidad, TX.

Larry was born on December 30, 1947, in Fort Worth, TX to Jepsie James and Ima Hazel (Short) Douglas. The youngest of five siblings, he was raised in Fort Worth and Arlington and graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1966. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as an air traffic controller and was a Vietnam War veteran. Larry was an entrepreneur, owning and operating two successful businesses in Texas, Southwestern Classic Chevrolet and Classic Auto Locks, with this wife Darlene before retiring in Singer, LA. Larry was a proud Mason and member of the VFW. Larry and Darlene loved their time on the lake, traveling, and spending time with their grandchildren and pets.

Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene, parents, and siblings, John Herschel Douglas and Laura Louise Saye.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Lisa Walsh and husband, Shawn, and Laura Gober and husband, Zane, all of Arlington; son, Eric Douglas and wife, Mandi, of Sulphur, LA; grandchildren, Davis, Seth, Payton, Kailey, McKendry, Ava, and Conner; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Cal. He also leaves behind his sister, Helen Suiter of Tomball, brother, Don Douglas and wife, Linda of Fort Worth, lifelong friends, Bobby and Carla Bartlett of Arlington, many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and his beloved fur babies, Dollie, Shelbie, and Hollie.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to his caregivers, Katie, Tiffany and April, and their families for taking such loving care of him during the past year and a half.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Larry's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
