Jesse Leon James SR.

Jesse James SR., 87, passed away in Tyler, TX with his family by him on February 6, 2026.
He was born on April 26, 1938, in Cisco, TX, to Esten and Nettie James. He worked in the oil field for 64 years covering the drilling and production side. He was known for his competitiveness, knowledge, and experience in the field. He retired from the oil field when he was 82 years old. He loved racing cars and raced competitively for over 50 years. He also enjoyed watching his sons' drag race. Jesse had many friends far and wide in many walks of life.
Jesse is preceded in death by his wife Sue, son David, parents Esten and Nettie, sisters Margaret, Josephine, Syrena, Marie, brothers Joe and Tommy.
He is survived by his sons Jesse Jr. and wife Tara, Zabe, Scott, grandchildren Macie, Brandon, Melissa, Hayden, and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside service is 11:00 AM February 11, 2026 at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Athens, TX with Bro. Gene Bishop officiating.
