Ruth stepped Heavenward on September 24, 2026 at the age of 99. It's certain the Lord and a crowd of loved ones were waiting with open arms for her.

Ruth was born in Childress , TX in 1927. She and Gwynne spent many years in Hereford, TX near family and friends. In the 1980s they moved to Cedar Creek Lake and enjoyed every moment there.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Gwynne Owen, her parents Curtis and Zola Akins, her son Roger Owen, brothers Paul, Wendell and Winford Akins and her grandson Dylan Pettit.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Gayle Owen, her grandchildren Dax Owen (Maria), Dagon Owen (Mary), Darby Owen, Shannon Knight, and Eric Knight (Angelica). Also her great grandchildren Asher Owen Brownfield, Zain Owen, Jadyn Owen, Layne Owen, Azlan Froboese, Gloria Knight, Brody Owen and Nick and Trevor Labatzky and great great-granddaghter Addyson Pettit.
Ruth's service will be at the First Baptist Church in Tool, TX. Visitation will be at 1:00 followed by her service at 2:00 pm with Bro. Rocky Weatherford officiating.
