Don Covey, 64, beloved son, husband, brother, and friend, was called to his eternal resting place on May 3, 2026. He entered this world on February 20, 1962 in Marrero, La, born to Foy Don and Helen Covey.
He was a graduate of Tomball High School and Abilene Christian University. During his early career he was a radio disc jockey for 105 KEAN Abilene and KNUE 101.5. He was ranch manger for Covey -Lewis Cattle Company. Don pursued a carrer in law enforcement. He began his career on December 1, 1992 in Tool, Tx. He later served in Malakoff. He then joined the Kerens Police Department on August 10, 2010. He continued to serve Kerens with compassion dedication, and integrity for 13 years. Don had a passion for going to Mississippi State University Football games and ringing the cowbells.
Don is preceded in death by his father Foy Don Covey, grandparents Letha Covey, Foy Covey, Amanda Rae Fox Key, and Franklin Key.
He is survived by his wife Norma Covey, mother Helen Covey, brother Frank Covey, and a host of cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be 6 - 8 PM Friday, May 15, 2026 at Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral Home, Malakoff, TX.
Service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, May, 16, 2026 at Huckabee Memorial Chapel, Seven Points, TX with Pastor Kerry Clark officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Hunter, Brian Myers, Ken Creech, Chris McSpadden, Wayne McDonald, and Matt Mizell. Serving as honorary pallbearers is Frank Covey and Mack Covey. Interment will be in Mankin Cemetery.
