Brenda Gayle Laney Stevenson, 69 Brenda, wife-mother-grandmother-mother-in-law, died peacefully on January 29, 2020 surrounded by her beloved friends and family. Born in Monroe, North Carolina on June 5, 1950 by Gerald Alexander Laney and Martha Azalea Jenkins Laney, she ended her journey in Trinidad, Texas. She is now reunited with her daughter Jessica Leigh Stevenson; sister Susan Laney; and her mother and father. Her graceful spirit will be missed by her husband of 43 years James (Jim) S. Stevenson; sons Adam L. Stevenson and Richard A. Stevenson; their wives Casey and Roxann Stevenson; and her precious grandchildren, James S. Stevenson II, Eric A. Stevenson, Dallas M. Stevenson, Jessica L. Stevenson, and Sarah E. Stevenson. She will also be dearly missed by her older brother Gerald (Kent) Laney, his wife Charlotte; and Brenda's sister Victoria Laney.
Her greatest passions were education, reading, singing, traveling and most of all her family. She enjoyed being a member of her church choir and playing bridge with her friends.
Please join us in celebrating the life and legacy of one of God's greatest gifts on February 8, 2020 at Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist Church in Tool, Texas at 1pm. There will be a gathering afterwards as we reminisce and honor the life of Brenda, an angel on earth who rejoined her eternal place in God's heavenly choir. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to M.D. Anderson Cancer institute, a place that gave her comfort and hope even in her final days.
