Donald (Don) Ray Owen, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 23, 2018 with his wife at his side.
A celebration of life memorial will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, August 29 at Huckabee-Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points with Pastor Eston Williams officiating for the Owen family. 
Mr. Owen was born November 21, 1937 in Santa Anna, TX to Glenna Faye Owen and Charlie Ray Owen.  Upon graduation from high school, Don joined the United States Air Force.  After completing Basic training in 1957, he was stationed in Fallon, Nevada 858th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron as a radar operator. 
He met the love of his life Billie Toole in Fallon in December 1957.  They eloped in 1960 and celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in February 2018.  Don was stationed at Ramore Air Station in Northern Ontario, Canada with NATO Forces in 1960.  Upon return to the US he received an Honorable Discharge.  They moved to Concord, CA where their daughter Cynthia (Cyndie) and son William (Bill) were born.
Completing his police science courses at the college, Don began working for the Contra Costra County Sheriff's office in Martinez, CA.  He was the first Deputy in the department to become a K-9 officer.  His new partner, Dirk, was a drug sniffing attack dog, winning numerous 1st place trophies throughout the state in the Police K-9 trials.  Don, himself; excelled as a marksman winning numerous trophies. 
In 1977, Don moved his family to Cedar Creek Lake, Tool, TX.  He began working at the Texas Youth Commission in Corsicana, TX until his retirement in 2000. 
He was a member of the Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist Church and was a Scoutmaster with Boy Scouts of America.  He served as a Constable Precinct 2 of Henderson County, Texas 1981-1984.
Don enjoyed outdoor activities, fishing, camping, hunting, scuba diving and visiting with friends and family.  He didn't have any qualms about stretching the stories about fishing or hunting to his satisfaction, thoroughly enjoying how he provoked he fellow hunter and fisherman with his tall-tales.
Those preceding Don in death were his parents Charlie Ray and Glenna Faye Owen, brother James Tony Owen and sister Linda Sue Howard.
He is survived by his wife Billie; daughter Cynthia "Cyndie" and husband Randy Betz and son William "Bill" Owen and wife Nichole.  Three grandchildren:  Stephanie Lynne Porter and husband Ryan; Stephen Scott Betz and wife Jensen and William Lee Owen.  Four great grandchildren:  James Ryan Porter, Tatum Scott Porter, Aryn Lynne Porter and Brantley Scott Betz. Sister Carolyn Kay Dyer of Coleman, TX.  He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and loved ones.
